about

Soil holds traces of what we grow, what we leave behind, and how we live. Museum of Soil explores these stories through fieldwork, drawings, and digital experiences. Its first exhibition, The Garlic Archive, begins in the garlic fields of Lanling, Shandong, tracing the relationships between farming, plastic mulch, and the land beneath our feet.

FIELD NOTES

A closer look at the garlic fields of Lanling. Photographs, drawings, and soil studies trace what happens above and below the surface—from growing roots to fragments of plastic left in the ground.

The Chemistry Beneath Our Feet

Beyond roots and plastic fragments, soil holds a less visible chemical story. This study explores selenium, trace metals, and agricultural inputs to ask how cultivation shapes the ground over time. Reading the soil through its elements. The Chemistry Beneath Our Feet
